Orbital – the one-thumb reflex game built around a single, clear idea

Some games need no tutorial and no second button – just one good idea, cleanly executed. Orbital is one of them: a node orbits your core on a tether, and with a single thumb you decide when it strikes close and fast and when it patrols wide and slow. Add real-time generative sound, unlockable looks, and no ads at all. Pure reaction, stripped down to the essentials.

One idea, one thumb

The rules are clear in seconds: a node orbits your core at the centre of the screen on a tether. Hold to reel the tether in – the node whips tight and fast near the core. Release, and it swings wide and slow to the outside. The node cuts whatever it touches.

Instantly understood

There is nothing to click through and nothing to learn. You hold or you release – the control needs no more than that, and after your first cut the principle has clicked.

Timing is everything

Reeling in means catching late and close to the core; releasing means hitting early and far out. That single decision – now or in a moment, tight or wide – is where the entire feel of the game comes from.

Easy to learn, hard to master: it is exactly this mix that turns "just one round" into a whole session.

Pressure that grows with time

In Orbital, difficulty escalates with time, not with your score – so your points stay meaningful, and every good run feels earned.

Combos and clutch cuts

Clean cuts build a combo and push your multiplier higher. A cut right next to the core – a clutch – earns extra points and creates exactly the close-call moments you remember.

Power-ups at the right moment

Collect temporary helpers: slow-mo buys you breathing room, a wider cut radius extends your reach, healing tops up the core, and a shockwave clears the whole field in one go.

Two modes

Play Classic with one tether – or Twin mode with two, which demands both thumbs and sharpens the reaction game even further.

Considered down to the detail

Orbital is deliberately minimalist, but carefully made. Rather than overloading it with features, it focuses on a clear, pleasant feel – and rewards sticking with it.

Progression and the Locker

You earn experience, climb to level 20, and collect Stardust. Use it to unlock colour palettes and trails in the Locker – with in-game currency only, never real money. There are also weekly missions and unlockable achievements.

Sound without any files

Every sound and the music are generated in real time on the device – the app contains no recordings and no samples. The generative score grows denser as the intensity rises. Sound, music, and vibration can each be toggled on and off.

Completely offline and private

Orbital works fully offline, and everything stays local on your device. No ads, no in-app purchases, no data collection – available in English and German, switchable any time.

That keeps the focus where it belongs: on the next cut.

Is Orbital really free?

Yes. Orbital is completely free, shows no ads, and contains no in-app purchases. You unlock palettes and trails using Stardust earned in-game only – there are no hidden costs.

Do I need an internet connection to play?

No. Orbital works fully offline. All of your progress – high scores, level, Stardust, and unlocked content – is stored locally on your device.

How do I control the game?

With a single thumb. Hold to reel the tether in – the node whips tight and fast near the core. Release, and it swings wide and slow to the outside. The node cuts what it touches; your job is to intercept threats before they reach the core.

What is the difference between Classic and Twin?

In Classic mode you control one tether; in Twin mode you control two – one per side. Twin demands both thumbs and sharpens the reaction game further, and each mode keeps its own best score.

Is any of my data collected?

No. Orbital collects no data whatsoever, makes no connection to the internet, and stores everything locally on your device only.
